On Saturday, April 15, 2017, at 3:00 p.m., Hot Shot Bakery and Cafe will host its 7th Annual Chocolate Dipped Datil Pepper Eating Contest on the cafe's open air back deck. Feel the burn or watch competitors fight the fire as St. Augustine visitors and locals compete for prizes.

Locally grown and popular in many Minorcan dishes, the datil pepper is a staple in spicy St. Augustine dishes. Hot Shot Bakery and Cafe's chocolate dipped datil peppers are available for $1 each for those who do not wish to compete in the contest. Patrons who try a chocolate dipped datil pepper may have their pictures displayed on the bakery's notorious Wall of Flame.
