Cultural Traditions at Fort Mose

Fort Mose Historic State Park and Florida Living History present a new heritage event, "Cultural Traditions of Fort Mose," on Saturday, April 2, 2016.

This day-long event will focus on the Florida cultures that have shaped the park site over the last 500 years and will feature historical interpretations and demonstrations that depict the many cultures of Florida, from Muskogee and Creek to African and Spanish. Kids activities will include arts and crafts and a scavenger hunt.

Additionally, the Fort Mose Militia will present their First Saturday Militia Muster and Training demonstrations in the morning. The Militia practices their firing drills and teach new members how to safely use historic weapons. Children are welcome to participate in the Junior Militia Drill, with wooden toy muskets and authentic uniform accessories.

Admission: The program itself is free. There is a charge of $2.00 for adults (free for children 5 and under) who wish to enter the museum.
