The Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, in partnership with Flying Saucer Presents, welcomes Americana icons Dave Alvin and Jimmie Dale Gilmore with The Guilty Ones in a live concert on Friday, April 12, 2019, at 8:00 p.m.

Accomplished musicians Dave Alvin and Jimmie Dale Gilmore were friends for more than 30 years, but it was only when they got together for a duet tour in 2017 that they realized how well their two styles meshed. A collaboration that might have been like oil and water was actually the springboard for a new dynamic that resulted in the album, Downey to Lubbock.

Downey, California, is where Dave Alvin hails from. He has been playing his Strat-packing blues and roots rock sound with several bands since 1978, when he first teamed up with his brother Phil. In recent years, he has toured with his own band, the Guilty Ones.

Jimmie Dale Gilmore is straight out of Lubbock, Texas, which is one thousand miles from Downey in a straight shot through a lot of blank space. His first group was the Flatlanders, a folk-country trio formed in 1972 with Joe Ely and Butch Hancock. He has had a successful solo career over the years as well as playing in several ensembles including  the Hub City Movers and The Wronglers with Warren Hellman, who started the Hardly, Strictly Bluegrass Festival in San Francisco.
