Discover First America! Series is back. This six-part FREE program features educational and entertaining information on St. Augustine's history through presentations, re-enactments, music, dance and sometimes food demonstrations! Each series will begin at 7 p.m. with the doors opening at 6 p.m. for seating, lobby displays, information, and book signings.

 February 26, 2013 Fortress of Freedom: The Story of Fort Mose Scholars, state park officials and re-enactors will tell the story of the first freed black settlement, Fort Mose in St. Augustine.The fort itself is no longer around but the ground where this historic fort once stood is celebrated and remembered for its groundbreaking achievement. Fort Mose was the very first of its kind, because it was built specifically for those people fleeing slavery from the English colonies in the Carolinas. Learn more at the Adventure program!Also, enjoy a performance from composer Bob Moore of the St. Augustine Orchestra. He will perform Someday, a piece he wrote to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Civil Rights Act. This program is sponsored by Fort Mose State Park.

St. Augustine 450th Commemoration passports will be distributed to all participants. Souvenir stampings in the passport will be provided at each program to record your attendance at each series.

What is the Discover First America! Series? - The FREE Discover First America! Program is an interactive and always entertaining series that highlights and explore important facets of St. Augustine's rich history and culture. This program will be held at Lewis Auditorium located at Flagler College at 14 Granada Street. The program is presented by the St. Augustine 450th Commemoration in partnership with Flagler College, Florida Power & Light Company, and each program sponsor.
