The EMMA Concert Series presents the South Carolina Ballet in A Midsummer Night's Dream on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Founded in 1961 as Columbia City Ballet, the South Carolina Ballet evolved from a small, civic ballet troupe to a professional company under the direction of Artistic Director, William Starrett. The company is known for creating popular ballets, such as Off the Wall & Onto the Stage: Dancing the Art of Jonathan Green. They now tour extensively with regular appearances elsewhere in South Carolina, as well as North Carolina, Florida, and Georgia, and at least 10 other states. Since so many cities in the country are named Columbia, the organization changed its name to South Carolina Ballet to avoid any confusion.
In January of 2026, the South Carolina Ballet brings the enchanting world of A Midsummer Night's Dream to the St. Augustine stage, in celebration of the 200th anniversary of Mendelssohn's score.

This nonprofit volunteer organization strives to present music and dance performances at an affordable price. In addition, EMMA provides funds, equipment, and instruments to various school programs in St. Johns County.
