  • The Ponte Vedra Concert Hall will present Eric Johnson performing un-released gems, some new songs and some older favorites in his 2022 "Treasure Tour" Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at 7:30 p.m.

His band will include Tom Brechtlein on drums and Roscoe Beck on bass.

Eric Johnson has been recognized as one of the world’s pre-eminent electric guitarists for years now. He grew up in a musical household in Austin, Texas, and began playing the piano at age 5. Six years later, he took up the guitar, inspired by bands like the Beatles, Cream and Jimi Hendrix, who were at the top of their careers at that time. His influences expanded to include such diverse guitarists as Django Reinhardt, Jerry Reed and Chet Atkins. Johnson began honing his tone and technique as a session guitarist for Cristopher Cross, Carole King and Cat Stevens.

Johnson has toured widely throughout his career. His 1991 album, Ah Via Musicom, became a crossover hit and reached platinum status. The track “Cliffs of Dover” from that album earned him the Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance that year. Ah Via Musicom loosely translates to "communicating through music."

During the Pandemic, the Grammy winning guitarist, vocalist, composer and multi-instrumentalist has been busy releasing weekly, donation-based, virtual “Mini-Lessons” benefiting Food Banks across the country and working in the studio on previously un-released tracks and new recordings. The currently untitled new record is scheduled for release later this year.

Throughout his career, Johnson has approached music as a healing force, a way to enhance a listener’s consciousness, and conjure joy and inspiration. More than a year into the Pandemic, and because of the Pandemic, he reflects that this approach has become reinforced and more enhanced.
