An Evening with Nellie McKay

Multi-talented singer, writer, performer, and activist Nellie McKay will revisit songs of the ‘60s in her concert at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall.

The Ponte Vedra Concert Hall will present An Evening with Nellie McKay on Saturday, November 19, 2016, at 8 p.m.

Described as "funny and touching, ceaselessly clever and scarily talented" by the New Yorker, Nellie McKay is touring in support of her recent release, My Weekly Reader, which covers songs from the '60s by Zappa, Ray Davies, Steve Miller, Country Joe McDonald and more.

McKay comments that the '60s were a time of "less cynicism … when the darker things in society were balanced by a certain innocence and hope."

Nellie has previously released five full-length albums, including Obligatory Villagers and Normal as Blueberry Pie. She has won a Theatre World Award for her portrayal of Polly Peachum in the Broadway production of The Threepenny Opera and has performed in films as well. Her songs are familiar to many from films and TV shows such as Mad Men, Weeds, Grey's Anatomy, and Nurse Jackie. She is also a writer, with articles appearing on The Onion, Interview, and The New York Times Book Review.

A recipient of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals Humanitarian Award, Nellie is a tireless advocate for feminism, civil rights, and other progressive ideals.

Admission:Ticket prices are $43.50 for the first six rows and $38.50 for all remaining rows.

When: Saturday, November 19, 2016, at 8 p.m. Gates open at 7 p.m.

Where: The Ponte Vedra Concert Hall is located at 1050 A1A North in Ponte Vedra Beach.

Parking Information: Parking will be available onsite. There will be a $5 parking fee for ticketed events and for free events parking will also be free. For events not produced by the St. Johns County Cultural Events Division, parking fees will be at the discretion of the event producer.
