Flagler Forum: The Pioneering Lives of Jane Goodall and Alice Waters

  • As part of Flagler College's Forum on Government and Public Policy, author Andrea Barnet will present the lecture The Pioneering Lives of Jane Goodall and Alice Waters at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 2022, at Lewis Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

    Barnet was a regular contributor to the New York Times Book Review for 25 years. She wrote primarily on the arts and culture, with special concentration on biographies of early 20th-century artistic and literary figures.

    Barnet is the author of All Night Party: The Women of Bohemian Greenwich Village and Harlem, 1913-1930, which was a finalist for the 2004 Lambda Literary Awards. She also wrote Visionary Women: How Rachel Carson, Jane Jacobs, Jane Goodall and Alice Waters Changed our World, a finalist work for the 2019 PEN/Bograd Weld Award for biography.

    Her journalism has appeared in the Smithsonian Magazine, the New York Times, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle and The Toronto Globe and Mail, among other publications.

    Flagler College’s Forum on Government and Public Policy brings nationally recognized journalists, commentators and speakers to St. Augustine to discuss issues at hand in regional, state and federal government.
