Flagler College presents "Science and Serendipity: Discoveries at the Menendez Encampment Site" as part of the Ideas and Images lecture series. Archaeologist Dr. Kathleen Deagan will talk about the ongoing discoveries of the original encampment established by St. Augustine's founder, Don Pedro Menendez, in 1565. The lecture will take place at the Lewis Auditorium on Wednesday, January 21, 2015.

In addition to being the leading authority on the Menendez encampment site archaeological explorations, Dr. Deagan is Distinguished Research Curator Emerita at the University of Florida's Florida Museum of Natural History. 

The Ideas and Images series offers lectures and readings from a variety of renowned scholars, artists and authors. The 2015 schedule of this lecture series features discussions and readings on "First America: Exploring the Arts and Sciences of St. Augustine."

Admission is free.
