Galactic with special guest The Hip Abduction

The Ponte Vedra Concert Hall will present New Orleans-based band Galactic with special guest The Hip Abduction on Thursday, November 17, 2016.

Galactic has been called "the spirit of Mardi Gras" by the New Times Broward-Palm Beach. The instrumental band is known for turning any venue into a block party on Bourbon Street, with an outstanding rhythm section and a compelling stage presence.

Ben Ellman, Robert Mercurio, Stanton Moore, Jeff Raines, and Rich Vogel started the seminal New Orleans band over 20 years ago, and have been exploring musical possibilities ever since. The production and arranging skills of Mercurio and Ellman have taken the band into a new phase of studio work, beginning with the album Ruckus in 2007.

Their most recent album, Into the Deep, was inspired by many of their own favorites of soul, funk, blues, and rock, and includes such contributors as JJ Grey, David Shaw, and Maggie Koerner.

The Hip Abduction released their third full album in March 2016. Gold Under the Glow showcases the emotive and roots-driven sound of this indie pop band at the height of their abilities. The Hip Abduction has performed at Sunfest, Wanee Music Festival, Suwanee Hulaween, Orange Blossom Jamboree, Tropical Heatwave Music Festival, and The Big What?

Admission: All tickets are general admission: $24.50 if purchased in advance and $27 if purchased on the day of the show.

When: Thursday, November 17, 2016, at 8 p.m. Gates open at 7 p.m.

Where: The Ponte Vedra Concert Hall is located at 1050 A1A North in Ponte Vedra Beach.

Parking Information: Parking will be available onsite. There will be a $5 parking fee for ticketed events and for free events parking will also be free. For events not produced by the St. Johns County Cultural Events Division, parking fees will be at the discretion of the event producer.
