Please Note: This event is from 2019.
The Ponte Vedra Concert Hall presents bluesy hard-rock trap artist grandson in a live concert on his “The End of the Beginning Tour” on Saturday, September 28, 2019.
Born in New Jersey and raised in Toronto, Jordan Benjamin is the artist behind grandson. Growing up in a musical family, he was influenced by classic rock, dancehall, hip-hop, and other genres. He started beatboxing and freestyle rapping while a student at McGill University in Montreal.
Benjamin relocated to Los Angeles and worked with producers Kevin Hissink and HighxLand. The result was his single “Bills,” which was released in September 2016. The track earned over a million streams. In 2017, Benjamin signed a deal with RCA and then issued a number of singles, including “Kiss Bang,” “War,” “Overdose,” and “Thoughts & Prayers,” over the next couple of years. His latest album, A Modern Tragedy, Vol. 2, appeared in February of this year.
Benjamin is also the author of an emo-influenced project called nothing, nowhere, which tells the story of a mysterious New England singer/songwriter who frequently wears hoods while performing. The project’s first album, the nothing, nowhere LP, appeared in June 2015, followed up by the EP Bummer later that year, Where Are You? in 2016, and Reaper in 2017. The project released the full-length album Ruiner in 2018.
