Just Tri It!

The St. Johns County Parks and Recreation Department hosts their annual Just Tri It triathlon for kids ages 5 to 14 years on Sunday, April 26, 2026, beginning at 8:00 a.m. Participating youth should arrive between 7:15 and 7:40 a.m. to have time to set up their gear and walk the course. The young athletes are divided into three age groups: 5 – 8, 9 –11, and 12 – 14.

Roads near the race site will be closed at 7:45 a.m. Time your arrival accordingly.

After the opening ceremony at 7:55, the race starts at 8:00 a.m. Each athlete must bring their own bike and helmet, and training wheels are not allowed. Athletes should wear their swimsuits to the event, and leave their shirts, running or tennis shoes, and a towel at the picnic table area. Bikes and helmet should have their names on them.

Age Group and Distances

• Ages 5 to 8: Swim 50 meters (2 lengths) in the pool; bike 1 mile; run 0.5 mile
• Ages 9 to 11: Swim 100 meters (4 lengths) in the pool; bike 1 mile; run 1 mile 
• Ages 12 to 14: Swim 150 yards (6 lengths) in the pool; bike 1 mile; run 1.5 miles

Tri4Fun Division

• Register to do the event with your child in this fun, non-scored, non-time division. Open to children ages 5 and older. You must pay the entry fee for both the adult and the child.
• Swim 50 meters (2 lengths) in the pool; bike 1 mile; run 0.5 mile

Registration: Early sign-up fee is $40.00 per entrant. The price increases to $50.00 on April 19. 

Packet Pickup: Before the event at the Solomon Calhoun Center.

When: Packet pick up and registration are from 7:00 to 7:45 a.m. Opening ceremonies are at 7:55 a.m., and the race starts at 8:00 a.m.

Where: Solomon Calhoun Community Center, 1300 Duval Street, St. Augustine, Florida 32084.

Follow the parking signs to the area between the baseball fields and Osceola Road. NOTE: The nearby public roads close at 7:45 a.m. Please arrive early. 

Race Timing and Scoring: This swim, bike, and run adventure is a chip-timed event, with finishing times recorded using race bibs. Results will be posted on the DRC Sports results page.
