The St. Augustine Archaeological Association will present three free lectures in the Flagler Room at Flagler College this fall. The lectures will be held at 7 p.m. on the first Tuesdays of September, October, and November, 2016.

"Archaeology and Rebuilding St. George Street in the 1960s"

This lecture will explore the St. Augustine Historical Restoration and Preservation Commission, a 1960s project which revamped St. George Street through a series of restoration and reconstruction projects. The efforts were spearheaded by the archaeological work led by Robert Steinbach, which was instrumental in shaping the street's restoration.

Matt Armstrong is the Digital Preservation Curator at the University of Florida's Government House Research Collection.

This lecture will tell the story of prehistoric canoes that have been found in Florida, exploring recent research findings and discussing the display and interpretation of this collection of artifacts.

Donna Ruhl is a Collections Manager at the Florida Museum of Natural History, located in Gainesville.

Director of the Florida Historical Society's Archaeological Institute and the Brevard Museum of Natural History and Science Patrisha Myers will give a lecture, touching on the Brevard Museum (located in Cocoa, Florida) and its newly developed exhibition that interprets the Windover Site discoveries.

Admission: FREE

When: The lectures will be held on September 6, October 4, and November 1, 2016. All lectures will begin at 7 p.m.

Where: The Flagler Room is in Ponce Hall at Flagler College, located at 74 King Street in St. Augustine.
