St. Johns County 200th Anniversary: Historical Encampment
(904) 829-3168In celebration of St. Johns County's 200th Anniversary, Historic Florida Militia will host a 19th Century Historical Encampment from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 9-10, 2021, at the Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park.
The encampment will be free of charge and open to the public through the park's Myrtle Avenue entrance.
At the encampment, guests will experience 19th-century life in Northeast Florida through educational programs, historic storytelling, cooking demonstrations, firearms demonstrations and authentic clothing presentations.
Through re-enactors who have studied life in Florida in the 1800s, visitors will get a glimpse of military and civilian life when St. Johns County was established in 1821 by Andrew Jackson. In what was then known as East Florida, St. Johns County encompassed all areas east of the Suwanee River.
Admission: Free to the public through the park's Myrtle Avenue entrance.
