Washington Oaks Gardens State Park presents a Winter Solstice Celebration on Saturday, December 21, 2019, at 7:00 a.m. Everyone is invited to come watch the light come up over the Intracoastal Waterway on the first day of the solar new year.

Winter solstice celebrations have been an important part of human culture for many centuries. Park Ranger Joe Woodbury will share his knowledge of the myths and legends that surround the winter solstice, and will provide guidance in tracking the movement of the sun throughout the year.

Participants will meet in the beach parking lot of Washington Oaks Garden State Park. No registration is needed.

Admission: This program is included with the park entry fee. Admission fees are $5 per vehicle with up to 8 people, $4 for vehicle with one occupant, and $2 for pedestrians/bicyclists.

When: At 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2019.
