A Classic Theatre Presents "The Immigrant"
May 6–8 and May 13–14, 2022 | 7:30 p.m. at St. Augustine Waterworks
-
A Classic Theatre will present The Immigrant by Mark Harelik in their new downtown performing space, The St. Augustine Waterworks on two weekends in May 2022. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 6 and 13, and Saturday, May 7 and 14. Sunday matinees are at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 8 and 15, 2022.
A delightful comedy-drama directed by Margaret Kaler, The Immigrant is set in rural Texas in 1909 when Haskell Harelik, a 19-year-old Russian emigre, arrives at the port of Galveston. Far from his native land and struggling with an alien language, Haskell becomes a penny-a-piece fruit peddler in and around the small town of Hamilton and eventually attains success as a merchant and community leader.
Religion meets religion, culture meets culture, fear meets fear, and love meets love. This is Haskell Harelik’s story — and our story.
