The Play

A Classic Theatre presents Rounding Third, from May 1 to May 10, 2026, on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. on Saturdays at 4:00 p.m. and on Sundays at 2:00 p.m.

Rounding Third, directed by Rick Cirucci, is a two-man play that follows two Little League coaches through a season leading to a championship game. The coach, Don, is a veteran coach, and his son is the star pitcher. The new assistant coach, Michael, is just looking for an activity for his son, who has never played baseball.

Written by Richard Dresser, this comedy/drama includes an uneasy alliance, victories, defeats, and questions about how to lead a team of boys. The audience serves as the team, as the two coaches exhort, calm, and motivate them in various ways. The themes include societal competition, protecting children, and preparing boys to be men after defining what that means.

Admission: Tickets are $25.00 for general admission and $15.00 for students with a valid ID.

When: 7:30 p.m. on Fridays, May 1 and 8; 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays, May 2 and 9; and Sunday matinees at 2:00 p.m. on May 3 and 10.

Where: The St. Augustine Waterworks, 184 San Marco Avenue, St. Augustine, Florida 32084

Getting There: While the address is 184 San Marco Avenue, the only driveway on San Marco is Exit Only, so it is not available to access the Waterworks. Access to the Waterworks is through the St. Augustine Main Library parking lot, on the opposite side of the complex. (Use 1960 North Ponce de Leon in your GPS.)
