The Limelight Theatre will present a special one-weekend-only performance of Allison and Margaret Engel's new play, Erma Bombeck: At Wit's End.

The play is directed by Jeff Langham and  tells the story of the famous newspaper columnist and humorist Erma Bombeck. Her long-running column defined an era, as she offered advice for homemakers and mothers. all with a generous dose of wit.

"While Erma was a major voice of the '60s and '70s," said Beth Lambert, Limelight Executive Director, "millennials will still appreciate that some things really haven't changed that much. Mothers today still are seeking that perfect balance between home and career."

The role of Erma Bombeck is played by Kristy Meanor, award-winning actress and artistic director of the Wetumpka Depot Players in Alabama. She describes the impact Erma's column and books had on her when she was growing up: "Throughout my life, I have embraced Erma's mantra — 'if you can't make it better, you had better laugh at it.'"
