The St. Augustine Historical Society, in partnership with the St. Johns County Public Library System, the Castillo de San Marcos of the National Park Service, and the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, will present a special free showing of Illegally Yours, the 1987 Peter Bogdanovich movie that was filmed in St. Augustine.
In commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the film, this free showing will be held at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at 7 p.m. Residents and visitors are invited to come see St. Augustine as it was in January 1987, as well as some of the changes that were made to the city to accommodate the filming.
Because the film was set at Christmas time, holiday decorations were left up in the city through April, and the Castillo was changed to look like a millionaire's residence, with a pagoda at the entrance (see cover photo above). Starring Rob Lowe and Colleen Camp, Illegally Yours is a classic Bogdanovich romp, with plenty of romance and madcap adventure.
This is a must-see for anyone who was here during the filming and also for those who want to see how Hollywood magic can rearrange downtown city streets and fuse three buildings into one.
Admission: The screening is free. Parking is also free for this event.
When: Wednesday, October 11, 2017. Gates open at 6 p.m. The presentation and the film begin at 7 p.m.
Where: The St. Augustine Amphitheatre is located at 1340C A1A South, St. Augustine FL 32080.
