The St. Augustine Amphitheatre presents California psychedelic garage rock group The Growlers on the Amphitheatre's Backyard Stage on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at 7:00 p.m.
The Growlers are an American band from southern California whose unique sound combines elements of country, Mexican, surf, pop, punk, psych and rock. They are renowned for their energetic stage performances, described as "a spazzed-out, hopped-up, sweaty set of pure fun," by LA Weekly. They have toured with such artists as The Black Keys, Devendra Banhart, Night Beats, and Johnathan Richman. Julian Casablancas, who produced their most recent album, City Club, states unequivocally: "The Growlers may be the most interesting band in the world, certainly one of the coolest. Neither gypsy, nor goth, nor surfer, nor punk, yet somehow all of them."
