Jail Break 5K 2021

Held at the Old Jail each year, the annual Jail Break 5K benefits Investing in Kids, an organization that supports St. Johns County students and teachers.

  • Old Town Trolley Tours and Investing in Kids (INK!) will present the 6th Annual Jail Break 5K on Saturday, October 30, 2021, beginning at 8 a.m. At this Halloween event, runners “escape” from the Authentic Old Jail and race across the Vilano Beach bridge to the Atlantic Ocean.

    Runners of all ages and abilities are welcome, and everyone is invited to dress up for the occasion. Merchandise includes a race T-shirt, a goody bag and a stunning finisher's medal Distinctive T-shirts are available with size of shirts guaranteed and this year’s unique finishers medals to those who register by Friday, October 1.

    Even for non-runners, there’s plenty to do, with post-race festivities that include a costume contest sponsored by Ghosts and Gravestones Tour. The winner will receive $1,000.

    New this year, bands will perform live alongside the race route with The Grapes of Roth, featuring Elizabeth Roth and her local style of classic rock and contemporary music, and Skin & Bonz, featuring Tommy Bledsoe and Company with bluegrass and modern folk music.

    INK! (Investing in Kids) provides innovative programs and classroom resources to promote the academic success of all public school students in St Johns County. The proceeds of this race will support our teachers and students.

    Admission: The 5K is free for spectators. For runners, registration is $35 through Sept. 30, 2021, $40 from Oct. 1–29, 2021 and $45 on race day. Visit here to register.
