A St. Johns County naturalist leads a workshop on freshwater fishing, on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., at Shands Pier. Located on the western edge of St. Johns County, along the St. Johns River, the pier has long been a favorite of local fishermen.

This two-hour course is free and available only to U.S. military veterans. Participants will enjoy hands-on activities from choosing the right bait to actually fishing. If they have their own gear, participants are encouraged to bring it, but fishing equipment will be provided for those who need it. All participants are required to have a valid freshwater fishing license. To obtain a fishing license, go here.

Where: Shands Pier, an iconic fishing pier located at 10000 Shands Pier Road in St. Johns, Florida. This is right where routes 16A and 13 meet.
