Pianist Dr. Catherine Lan and cellist Dr. Claudio Jaffe perform music written about relationships torn asunder in one of the headliner acts for the 2024 Romanza Festivale. This free concert includes compositions inspired by failed connections and will be presented on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the St. Augustine Waterworks.
Edvard Grieg's piece is the story of two brothers who no longer speak to each other, while David Popper's work was based on the failure of his marriage. To balance out the program, they end the afternoon with romantic works by Arthur Foote, the first prominent American composer fully educated in the United States.
Duo Arpeggione's presentation includes passion, sensitivity, and humor in a virtuoso performance.
