The St. Johns County Public Library System presents the St. Johns Reads Hootenanny at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre on Saturday, February 4, 2017. The event will include music by local favorites The Wobbly Toms and a showing of the 2010 film True Grit.
This is the 12th anniversary of St. Johns Reads, a community-wide program promoting reading and sponsored by the county’s library system. The featured St. Johns Reads book this year was True Grit, by Charles Portis. The book was first published in 1968 as a serial in the Saturday Evening Post and and made into the classic John Wayne film the following year. In 2010, Joel and Ethan Coen created a second film version, featuring Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon, and Josh Brolin. The 2010 film is the one that will be shown as part of the St. Johns Reads Hootenanny.
