  • Frida is permantly closed and is now the location for MIlargo on 12.

Frida is St. Augustine’s first Mexican taqueria & tequila bar, located just across from the Castillo de San Marcos and overlooking the bayfront, at 12 Avenida Menendez (formerly the Acapulco Mexican restaurant).

Named after world-famous Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, the restaurant features specialty Mexican dishes, with an extensive selection of tacos, burritos, flautas and enchiladas, just to name a few. Appetizer choices include ceviche, empanadas, elotes asados, and guacamole. Guests can choose from 60 different fine tequilas and Mezcals.

The restaurant’s atmosphere is an expression of Mexico’s cultural heritage and Frida Kahlo’s joyous approach to life, as reflected in the bold lines and bright colors of her paintings.

Frida offers indoor and outdoor seating (with one of the best views in St. Augustine), as well as both dine-in and take-out service. The restaurant is open seven days a week.

My husband and I were married on Sunday, March 1st, 2015 in St. Augustine. We had a plan in place for our guests to meet us for a happy hour on the Saturday night before the wedding. Unfortunately, that plan fell through at the last minute. But, Frida's saved the day! Not only did they offer to accommodate us and our 75 to 100 guests, they allowed us to bring a mix of music to play in the background, and they took great care of us! The service and food was exceptional! Each of our guests were impressed with Frida's and I can honestly say, that you now have lifelong customers in Justin and I! We will always eat at Frida's each time we visit St. Augustine! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!

Frida's tacos were so delicious I went back twice before the end of my trip! I ate veggie tacos, the torta (which is the mexican name for a sandwich type thing) and the burrito wrap! I loved it! All the different taco options! I wish I lived in St. Augustine! I'd eat lunch here everyday! Of course, since I was on vacation visiting family in town I had to try a few margaritas, and my favorite was the one named after the artist, Diego? Yumm! I recommend!

Made a special Two hour trip today to eat at one of the best Mexican Restaurants in Florida only to find not only their name changed but also their menu. They now charge $4.50 for chips n salsa we used to get for free, their lunch portions are tiny offering only one side, and a much smaller menu selection. Huge disappointment... Back on the hunt for a good Mexican Restaurant. Please let me know if Acapulcos returns.
