The Backyard Stage at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre will resound with psych-funk music when the Pigeons Playing Ping Pong performs Thursday, December 9, 2021.
An American funk jam band, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong was founded in Baltimore, Maryland, in 2009 by collegemates at the University of Maryland.
Current band members include “Scrambled” Greg Ormont (vocals, guitar), Jeremy Schon (vocals), Ben Carrey (bass, vocals) and Alex “Gator” Petropulos (drums).
Over the past nine years, the band Rolling Stone magazine called “musical explorers” has played more than a thousand concerts across 44 states. In the past two years alone, the band has co-billed at Red Rocks, played halftime at Madison Square Garden, performed on Adult Swim’s FishCenter Live, celebrated the 10th anniversary of their beloved music festival, Domefest, and even earned their first headlining arena show.
Pigeons Playing Ping Pong 's latest album Presto, released in 2020, is their most sophisticated and joyful collection to date, drawing on everything from funk to rock to electronic music as it builds off the group’s unparalleled live energy and hits new heights of emotional and technical maturity.
