Jazz

Formed from the African American communities of the late 1800s and early 1900s, jazz is a combination of both ragtime and blues and has been dubbed "America's classical music." Jazz combines a multitude of instruments from drums to brass saxophones to bluesy piano melodies. The harmonies tend to swing and contain complex chord structures with a responsive nature between instrumentals.
