Zaba's is a locally owned and operated coffee shop in St. Augustine Beach. The straight-forward breakfast and lunch menu features less than ten items on each for those of you who are indecisive. Sandwiches, biscuits and gravy, and grilled donuts are some of the options for starting your morning. Lunch offers BLTs, PB&Js, and the ever-alluring Cuban Sandwich. What makes the Cuban Sandwich so special is that's it's made with their housemade Datil Mustard.
To drink, you can find choice hot brews like espressos, an organic cup o' joe, Lattes, Americanos, and everything in between. For something cool, iced coffees, teas, smoothies, are some of the options, with Gatorade and sodas for those who'd rather grab something bottled to take onto the beach.
Zaba's is most characterized by its connection to customers. To one side a counter is decorated in the pictures of patrons ("you don't have to be local to be featured, just willing"), and comedy signs donated by regulars line the walls. Some of the signs are homemade and framed, while others are the kinds you see depicting cheeky remarks like "What Happens at the Beach Stays at the Beach" and "You Can't Buy Happiness, But You Can Buy Coffee, and That's Pretty Close." Although there are many signs already, there's certainly room for more additions.
A single TV broadcasts whatever the present company is interested in watching. Window shades can pull down on those intensely sunny days, giving patrons a cool respite from the heat. For entertainment, you can either hook up to the WiFi or play with the box of Jengas sitting on a corner shelf. While you're waiting, you can browse through their items for sale including a glass counter of beach jewelry or the Complete Guide to St. Augustine available for sale at the counter. If you don't get your fill of Zaba's while there, consider buying some bagged coffee or Datil Mustard to take with you.
Zaba's is located just a block from the ocean, but don't even think about using the building's parking for an entire day at the beach. Parking is for the people that are coming to sit in and enjoy some lite American fare before or after a beach visit. There are plenty of public parking spaces along A1A,and some parts of the beach are accessible to vehicular traffic.
Zaba's coffee is located on A1A Beach Boulevard across from Mango Mango's.
