Pepper's Cocina and Tequila Bar
This family-owned Mexican Restaurant has a new location downtown in St. Augustine.
This new restaurant, in the former home of The Floridian, opens on Friday, June 26, 2026.
Pepper's Cocina and Tequila Bar offers fresh, house-made Mexican food, a full bar with a large collection of Tequila, conveniently located on Spanish Street in St. Augustine's Historic Downtown.
Their cocina (kitchen) offers authentic Mexican flavors and traditional meals, serving foods they have enjoyed as a family for generations.
The Menu
Pepper's offers familiar dishes and appetizers that honor their family's traditions and seasonings. Appetizers include guacamole, empanadas, flautas, and housemade queso. Share one of their several nachos or enjoy a salad with protein. (Most of their salad meals are gluten-free.)
Combination meals include rice and beans and your choice of two or three items from the list of enchiladas, tostadas, burritos, tacos, or tamales. Or order a chimichanga, burritos, quesadilla, or any of several varieties of tacos. Other options include seafood dinners, meals made on the grill, and Pepper's House Specials.
Desserts include flan, churros, and tres leches.
This family-friendly restaurant offers a kids' menu with both Mexican items and the more familiar chicken nuggets.
The Tequila Bar
Pepper's Tequila Bar offers an extensive choice of tequila. They are most proud of the tequila from their family-owned distillery in Arandas, Jalisco, Mexico. This small-batch distillery offers three different varieties of tequila: Tequila Blanco, with a distinct agave taste; Tequila Reposado, aged in oak barrels; and Tequila Añejo, their robust, complex aged tequila. Pepper's hosts a tequila club which offers tasting events and special discounts.
In every location, Pepper's is known for their margaritas, with traditional, spicy, fruity, and tropical flavors. Pepper's also has a full bar offering cocktails, spirits, wine, and beer.
The Location
Pepper's offers seating on the patio, in the dining room, and in the bar area, which is separated from the dining room by a low wall. The interior is warmly decorated and honors their Mexican roots with subtle decor, such as an iron railing to the second floor. The large, open room upstairs will be used as a second dining room during busy nights, and as a function room when space allows.
In addition to the event space, the restaurant offers catering services for festive celebrations. You can also order meals to go.
Pepper's Cocina and Tequila Bar in St. Augustine opens daily at 11:00 a.m. They stay open until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, 10:00 p.m. on Monday through Thursday, and until 10:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
