During the 2024 spooky season, Sherrif Hardwick's Haunted Jail presents an Alien Invasion on Fridays and Saturdays, October 18, 19, 25, and 26, from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. The actual historic jail at the sheriff's office has been transformed into a scream-inducing tour for those who dare — and are older than 10 years old.

The younger crowd—and the more timid—will enjoy an outdoor movie, trunk or treat, photo booths, games, food, and drinks.

The Matanzas Riverkeeper organization celebrates their anniversary on December 6, 2024, with an oyster roast at Genung's Fish Camp from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.

This nonprofit organization has worked to preserve and protect the Guana, Tolomato, and Matanzas rivers and their estuaries since the early 1990s. This yearly celebration lets volunteers, conservationists, and folks who play and work on the river celebrate the Matanzas Riverkeeper organization's dedication and progress.

The Matanzas Riverkeeper hosts Shuck for a Truck, oyster roasts to raise funds to help the Riverkeeper purchase a truck to haul the M/V Litter Gitter. The event will take place on three Fridays during the oyster season:
