The St. Augustine Film Society presents The Monk and the Gun (2023) on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at the Waterworks.
Written and directed by Pawo Choyning Dorji, this playful drama is set in 2006 — a pivotal year when the Kingdom of Bhutan began its transition to democracy. As a monk is sent off to the mountainside, he encounters an American in search of an antique, 19th-century rifle. The film sends a message about embracing change without erasing the past.
