Lightner Museum presents another in their "Lightner Local" series, featuring Laura Mongiovi's art exhibition Empire. In her work, Laura uses textile, sculpture, and drawing to examine the structures of beauty and power. The textiles in this work have vibrant colors with hand-stitched designs using silk and cotton threads. Each work incorporates multiple techniques and materials, such as using text in her sculptures, and adding layered materials and flocking to her drawings.
