My family dined at The Gourmet Hut Inc at 17 Cuna Street in San Augustine on December 30, 2019 on our first trip to San Augustine. I have never had such an experience. I am VERY familiar with "cajun" good and this was FAR from that. I can't even describe what we ate. Having family who was born and raised in Louisiana... I was outraged of the food that came to our table. It was disgusting and my kids could have cooked the meals better. We ordered the "Etouffee" which came out without any rice! We had to point that out to the server and it took FOREVER to arrive which wasn't even fully cooked. The "Etoufee" was... NOTHING close to "Etouffee". It was basically beans and the sauce tasted like.. dish soap mixed with dirt. JUST so you know... Etouffee is found in both Creole and Cajun cuisines and is typically made with shellfish like crabs, shrimps. and crawfish, Fortified with tomatoes, onions, celery, bell pepper, garlic and for an extra rich flavor Worcestershire sauce, shrimp stock, bay leaf, paprika and thyme. WHAT we got WAS NOTHING close to this. I seriously wish I would have taken a picture. Then the "Seafood" platter with Catfish.... which was rice and beans with Catfish. I had to get up and ask the server for a menu to clarify there was other seafood on the "seafood platter" then that took forever to arrive. OH and the next item we ordered was "Seafood Jambalaya" again... beans and rice was dilivered to our table. I was outraged and have never in my life experienced such service or food. Don't get me wrong... I have had bad servers before... we all have bad days. I did recieve a % off the Seafood platter... cause I asked for it. I was given some story that the chef took off and the guy in the kitchen was new. THE food we recieved was far from the deceiving pictures listed on the site they listed. I am outraged that I paid $70 towards this trash. THIS is not a regular post for me, it was really bad for me to write this. With regards to the cook... new guy or not... he should know the basics of cooking rice. The owner should have made sure the "new" guy knew how to cook basic rice and "cajun cuisine" or just food for that matter before taking the day off. I feel robbed!

Always wanted visit this place. Just want to say David, Patrick and Gina were amazing. The personalities and beautiful atmosphere were great. The food was amazing, the taste, the playing, was all so perfect. I recommend this place to any and everybody. It's a must try. Keep up the good work guys, you are the best.

Had a great late lunch. Service was excellent as was the food. Will go again the next time we're in town.

It was the perfect place to take my girlfriend out for a bottle of wine and delicious food. Service, food and wine selection were perfect for our first ever visit to St. Augustine. Highly recommend!

David was amazing. The atmosphere was peaceful and perfect for our morning brunch. Even though were there early David opened just for us and the breakfast sandwiches were so much more than basic... they were delicious. The grits and shrimp were absolute perfection... We will be back and are telling everyone.
The illuminated evening garden atmosphere was truly beautiful and was the perfect accompaniment to the excellent food & nice wine list. Our server could not have been more attentive and there was an excellent keyboard/pianist to set the mood. Great location too. Highly recommend the Gourmet Hut!
